Overview
Plan and configure an addressing scheme for a small internetwork. Assign IP addresses and subnet masks to all ten devices, configure gateways and routes, then test connectivity using the command console.
Select any router or computer in the topology to open its configuration. Every IP address and subnet mask is entered by you.
Detailed Lab Steps
Part 1: Subnet Planning
Step 1. Plan five distinct LAN subnets.
- Choose five non-overlapping IPv4 networks.
- Use any valid contiguous mask from /1 to /30. Masks may differ between LANs.
- Each LAN needs a router address and a host address.
- Do not assign a network or broadcast address to a device.
Part 2: Device Configuration
Step 2. Click each router and enter its LAN IP address and mask. Set its forward route toward the next router to the right. R5 needs no forward route.
Step 3. Click each endpoint and enter an IP address and mask in its router’s subnet. Enter that router’s LAN address as its default gateway.
WAN links between routers and return routes toward PC1 are preconfigured. The editable router address belongs to LAN interface G0/0.
Part 3: Verify Connectivity
Step 4. From PC1, use these commands:
devices — list assigned addresses
ping <IP> — test an endpoint
traceroute <IP> — inspect each hop
check — test all five endpoints
Step 5. Select Grade lab to check your work. Restore all five endpoints to complete the lab.
